Create a sustainable food system.
The current food system has supported a fast-growing population and fueled economic development and urbanization. However, World Economic Forum predictions show that by 2050 we’ll need to feed up to 10 billion world citizens. An urgent call for a more sustainable approach. Farmed Today founded in Amsterdam took responsibility in building up a global sustainable food system by providing fair margins to food producers, providing access to sustainable foods for consumers and reducing food waste in Europe. Note that Farmed Today stopped operating in 2022.
In the Netherlands, the circular food systems approach is increasingly acknowledged in industry and governmental policy (and hence part of the five transition agenda’s). Being part of the Farmed Today Board of Advisors fulfills both a professional and a personal ambition to create a fair and sustainable food system. Activities performed are summarized below.
